Bidding will begin at 6pm sharp and continue through 8pm. Winning bidders will take their purchases home at the end of the evening.

Newspace Center for Photography is pleased to announce its Third Annual Silent Auction on Friday, February 29th. The auction is a wonderful evening full of community, fine photographs, and tasty hors d’oeuvres. This year, gorgeous photographs from Larry Fink, Stu Levy, Terry Toedtemeier, and other noted regional and national artists will make it a very special evening. Signed and limited edition photography books will also be up for auction, as well as a fine selection of gift certificates from local restaurants, retailers, and performance venues. Newspace’s largest fundraiser of the year, the Auction helps to support the Center’s many educational offerings and contributes to the strength of the organization.

Newspace Center for Photography is an educational and cultural non-profit dedicated to promoting the awareness of photography to the public as well as providing a space and building a community where photo enthusiasts can learn, create, discuss, and show their work. Through wide-ranging course offerings, darkroom and studio access, artists’ lectures, gallery exhibits, and a full roster of photographic programming, Newspace makes available a wide spectrum of enriching photographic opportunities to the Portland/Vancouver community.

Resurrection: A New Look at Old Photographic Processes

This exhibition seeks to explore a renewed interest in alternative or antique photographic processes. We are looking for artists who are using photographic methods and techniques of the nineteenth century such as photograms, tintypes, daguerreotypes, gum bichromates, collodian prints, toned silver prints, and more. Our curator for this show is Laura Moya, director of Photolucida, an arts non-profit that promotes the careers of emerging photographers. 23 Sandy Gallery will produce a printed, soft-cover, color catalog of all artwork accepted for this show. Cycle Seen 2008, Picturing Portland's Bike Culture is now taking submissions.
WHAT IS Cycle Seen? Cycle Seen is an exhibition celebrating the diverse and dynamic culture of cycling/cyclists in Portland, Oregon. The exhibition will take place in June 2008, throughout metro Portland. Some Cycle Seen events such as rides to gallery locations will occur during Pedal Palooza, Portland's bike fun festival.

The Deadline for Submissions is March 1st, 2008.

What we're looking for: This is an open call to all bike lovers (Yes, this includes Vancouver, WA) who have taken photos of bike adventures of any kind in Portland, within the last 2 years. We are looking for images of: Bikes! (Yes), pictures from bikes, cool bikes, crazy outfits and customs & bikes, fun and crazy rides, bikes and traffic, bike signage, families on bikes, bikes errands, bike races, riding in the rain, hidden rides, bike maintenance, bike mechanics, bike builders, bike building, bike shops, bike messengers, bike crafts, bike hauling, moving by bike, bike teams, portraits of bikes culture, self-portraits w/ bikes, bike performances, bike events, bike stickers, bike gear, bike socks, bike games, bike homes, bike business, bike and coffee, bike & eating, bike education, bike safety, community bike programs, any bikes related culture you can think of in PDX...
